Post-Natal Reformer
Class Details
Overview
Safely rebuild core foundation, restore pelvic floor function, and regain physical stamina after childbirth. Located at our Dorval studio, Post-Natal Reformer provides a supportive, specialized environment tailored to the unique physical needs of new mothers returning to movement.
At Willow Wellness Centre, we prioritize intelligent rehabilitation over rushing the postpartum recovery process. Utilizing the smooth, adaptable spring resistance of the Reformer, our certified instructors guide you through targeted movements designed to gently reconnect your deep core, address abdominal separation (diastasis recti), and relieve upper body tightness from nursing and holding your baby. Our small-group setting ensures personalized care so you can rebuild functional strength with confidence and peace of mind.
Benefits
- Core & Abdominal Reconnection: Safely strengthen deep abdominal layers to support recovery from diastasis recti and restore midsection stability.
- Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation: Improve pelvic floor responsiveness and tone to prevent dysfunction, support pelvic organs, and restore core integrity.
- Postural Strain Relief: Open tight shoulders, chest, and thoracic spine while strengthening back muscles strained from feeding and carrying your newborn.
- Low-Impact Strength & Energy: Rebuild full-body endurance and joint stability without joint stress or high-impact jarring.
Ideal For
Post-Natal Reformer is the perfect fit if you are:
- New Mothers: Cleared by your healthcare provider (OB-GYN, midwife, or pelvic floor physiotherapist) for exercise following delivery.
- Addressing Postpartum Symptoms: Managing core weakness, pelvic floor instability, lower back pain, or postural shifts.
- Transitioning Back to Fitness: Looking for a safe, low-impact bridge between early postpartum rest and higher-intensity workouts.
- Seeking Supportive Care: Wanting to move in an empathetic, non-intimidating West Island studio environment that respects your body's timeline.
What to Expect
- Targeted Assessment & Check-Ins: Instructors check in on your recovery status to offer personalized modifications for your specific birth recovery.
- Breath-Driven Mechanics: Exercises prioritize deep diaphragmatic breathing to co-activate pelvic floor and transverse abdominal muscles correctly.
- Restorative & Functional Flow: A balanced sequence combining gentle core rebuilding, hip stabilization, and upper back opening.
- Studio Essentials: Grip socks are required for carriage safety and stability, available at our Dorval front desk.
When can I start attending Post-Natal Reformer classes after giving birth?
Most clients begin attending around 6 to 8 weeks postpartum following vaginal delivery, or 8 to 12 weeks following a C-section. You must have medical clearance from your doctor or midwife prior to your first class.
Is this class safe if I have diastasis recti (abdominal separation)?
Yes! Our certified instructors specialize in postpartum alignment and will guide you through safe movement patterns while avoiding traditional crunches or high-pressure moves that can aggravate separation.
