Class Details
Overview
Elevate your mat practice with light resistance and dynamic conditioning. Mat Sculpt merges the cadence of light-weight resistance training with precise, low-impact movement patterns to sculpt muscular definition, improve core stability, and build functional stamina.
Located at our Dorval studio, Mat Sculpt uses 3–5 lb hand weights, resistance bands, and body weight to challenge targeted muscle groups. At Willow Wellness Centre, our instructors focus on safe alignment and controlled tempo, ensuring you get an intense, pulse-raising workout that tones arms, shoulders, glutes, and core without putting excessive load on your joints.
Benefits
- Enhanced Muscular Definition: Use light weights (3–5 lbs) with higher repetitions to tone arms, shoulders, back, and legs safely.
- Metabolic & Cardio Endurance: Keep your heart rate elevated with continuous, rhythmic movement sequences.
- Core & Postural Integration: Maintain abdominal stability and spinal alignment while supporting extra upper-body resistance.
- Functional Shoulder & Arm Strength: Build practical strength for lifting, carrying, and everyday mobility.
Ideal For
Sculpt is the perfect fit if you are:
- Ready for Extra Resistance: Looking to progress beyond bodyweight mat work into light weight conditioning.
- Building Toned Definition: Aiming to isolate shoulders, triceps, glutes, and core in a joint-friendly format.
- Seeking High-Energy Movement: Looking for a rhythmic, beat-based workout that delivers a healthy sweat.
- Maintaining Joint Health: Wanting resistance training that avoids heavy compression on shoulders, knees, or hips.
What to Expect
- Light Resistance Intervals: Rhythmic blocks targeting upper body, lower body, and core using 3–5 lb weights.
- Controlled Tempo & Form: Clear instructor guidance on keeping movement slow and controlled to maximize tension safely.
- Mat & Core Burn: Finishing core sequences on the mat to stabilize your midsection after light resistance work.
- Studio Essentials: Mats and weights are provided at the studio. Bring water and grip socks or bare feet.
Can I use lighter weights if 3–5 lbs feels too heavy?
Absolutely! We encourage you to listen to your body. You can drop down to lighter weights (or no weights at all) at any point during class while keeping your form sharp.
Is Sculpt high-impact?
No. While it increases heart rate and muscular fatigue, Mat Sculpt keeps your feet grounded on the floor without jumping or jarring impacts.
